Killer Whales (Orcinus orca) or Orca near the Farallon Islands, had "cornered" a California Sea Lion and were in process of taking his life so that they can live on.

The left most Orca is a male and the other 3 are females. One of the lead scientists on our trip contacted some folks that track these animals and it is thought that the left most is a young unknown male between 13-17 years old, just starting to venture into being an adult. The second from left is CA58 and it is possible that the male is her son as she was with a young male when she was last seen in Monterey two years ago. The third from left is CA23 and the one on the right is CA38.
